Extreme Maximus Boxing

There’s no doubt Extreme Maximus Fightfest features the best co-main events in an Iowa boxing event in a long time. But a quick look also reveals a talent-filled undercard.
Stephen Edwards vs. Junior Hernandez and Donovan Dennis vs. Brian Houston main events are the type of matchups that led to nearly 1,000 tickets being sold on the first day. The 16-bout event, which starts at 4 p.m. on June 5 at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, has a lot to get fans excited.

* There’s the return of Shawn West and Robert Calvin, who put on stellar performances in the last Extreme Maximus event, Friday Night Fightfest.

* There’s the first amateur kickboxing title fight with local favorite Adam Frederick, undefeated in EMB events, facing Sean Nonhof of Minneapolis.

* How about the rematch between Jeremy Castro of Clinton and Jeremy Marts of Ottumwa? Last time they fought to a majority draw. Both promise victory this time around.

* In kickboxing, former Marine Quinton Stage is back, facing Noah Harrell in a fight between unbeaten. There’s also promising Josiah Molina of Clinton and newcomer Nate Hege, who will face “old man” Jason Shafer.

* The QC’s Ryan Delf makes his professional boxing debut against Kevin Childs of Ottumwa in a heavyweight showdown.
